This gallery shows a selection of photographs taken by Mark Maguire showing various goods and passengers workings on the Railway at the 2011 Spring Gala.

Industrial Gala – 2010

Our 2010 Industrial Gala was a great success with brake-van rides and various locos in steam for all the visitors who attended to enjoy. Here are a selection of images by Mark Maguire of the Gala weekend.

Santa Special – 2008

Our seasonal Santa Specials are always an extremely popular attraction for the Railway with enthusiasts and families sampling our festive hospitality, taking a trip on our Santa train rides and visiting Santa in his grotto! 2008 was no exception and here you can see a selection of photographs from the event taken by Andy Doherty.

Steam Gala – 2007

The Chasewater Railway Steam Galas are a great way to see our fleet of locos, along with those visiting the Railway, in full steam and experience them running passenger workings and various duties in the Brownhills West yard and along the main line. This gallery of Ian Perry photographs shows the Railway’s Asbestos Saddle-Tank loco, among others including ex-GWR No.813, working the Gala in 2007.

Education Programme Launch – 2007

The Chasewater Railway Education Programme was launched in 2007 and saw a close partnership between the Railway and local schools enabling the new generation of railway enthusiasts to learn about the history and operation of a railway. This gallery shows some photographs of the inaugural launch day event with guest Harriet Harman MP.

813 Freight Charter – 2006

Over the years Chasewater Railway has been host to many visiting locos and in 2006 ex-Great Western Railway 0-6-0 saddle tank loco no. 813 (formerly Port Talbot & Docks Railway no. 26) arrived for duty. Seen here is 813 on a Freight Charter running in a series of photographs taken by Ian Loasby in 2006.

Sentinel 4w VBT – 2005

A mainstay of Chasewater Railway, the ever-popular Sentinel 4w VBT is seen here in a series of photographs by Nigel Canning with a passenger working at various points on the line during 2005.

Chasewater History – 1980s & 1990s

Chasewater Railway during the 1980s-1990s overcame many obstacles to become the flourishing railway it is today.  Still operating out of Hednesford station, this set of photographs show various views of the facilities and stock during that period including the running of Sentinel 4w VBT who can still be seen in action on the Railway today!

Chasewater History – 1960s & 1970s

This set of photographs shows the Railway from its embryonic days in 1960, then operating out of the Hednesford base that was cleared to make-way for the M6 Toll Road in 2004, running along part of an ex-Midland Railway trackbed through the colliery wasteland of the Cannock coalfields up until the close of the 1970s.
