Coal Train Day 22nd June 2014

Our next event is the popular Coal Train Day where in between our regular passenger service we run demonstration coal trains. Experience the clank of the old coal and mineral wagons whilst they are shunted in to place and the brake van is attached before the heritage locomotive then hauls it’s consist down the former colliery line. This was once a familiar sight in the Chasewater area and we hope to show you a little part of the area’s history along with sight, sounds and smells recalling memories of our industrial past or maybe experiencing them for the first time.

On duty will be all available locomotives from the home fleet both steam and diesel and long term guest, Staffordshire built Bagnall Kent No.2. Train movements begin around 10am and Passenger trains run at 11am, 12:15pm, 1:30pm, 2:45pm and 4pm. The day offers excellent value for money and as usual our accredited museum, gift shops and traditional tea room serving a Sunday Carvery as well as drinks, snacks and sandwiches will all be open for you to enjoy. We look forward to welcoming you soon.
