Events : Mince Pie Special – Wed 1st January 2014

Our popular Mince Pie special on January 1st 2014 features a least two engines in steam and the last chance to travel over the existing track formation at the mouth of Brownhills West station before we undergo another major track renewal programme that will last until March 2014. The day will feature heated trains so you can relax and unwind with a mince pie or two whilst taking in the view from the window and planning those New Year resolutions. Normal 2014 fares apply and your ticket is valid for all the days trains between 11am – 4pm (running times to be confirmed).

In steam will be the biggest resident loco, from the former Nechells power station (now the site of Star City) RSH Nechells No.4 & regular visitor, Staffordshire built Bagnall Kent No.2 it’s red paint always brightens the day up (possibly Colin McAndrew may put in an appearance too you never know). Both of the booked engines can steam heat our comfortable ex main line Mark 1 Carriage which has recently undergone a lot of work including general maintenance, repaint and interior improvements especially to the former parcels area that has been converted and fitted out to improve our ramped accessible accommodation. Our other coaches are heated by under floor units so a warm welcome awaits.

The Sidings Tea Room will be open for Hot & Cold Snacks, Drinks & more where a real fire awaits you. (The Sidings staff will then be taking a well deserved break, details to follow)
