There's lots to see and do at Chasewater Railway!
The Chasewater Railway operates heritage steam and diesel trains on
Sundays and Bank Holiday Mondays throughout the year and also Wednesdays
and Saturdays throughout the Summer.
We are located in Chasewater Country Park, just off the
southbound A5 (near to it's junction with the A452 Chester Road) at Brownhills West, the
Railway is conveniently placed for visitors from every part of the country (for direction or public transport details,
click on 'Find Us' under About Us on the menu above).
The Railway is rapidly gaining recognition as one of the major visitor attractions within
the Walsall/Lichfield/Cannock areas. With its policy of low-cost fares and membership fees,
it excellent offers value for money for railway enthusiasts and other visitors alike.
The Railway operates passenger trains from is headquarters at Brownhills West to
Chasetown (Church Street), with intermediate stations at Norton Lakeside and Chasewater
Heaths (adjacent to the Burntwood Bypass). A round trip of nearly 4 miles takes about 45
minutes. Day Rover tickets offer unlimited travel on all trains operating on the day of
issue.
Ample free parking is provided at Brownhills West and Chasewater Heaths Stations, which
both offer refreshment facilities and gift/book shops. All trains and stations are accessible
to wheelchair users and other visitors with mobility difficulties. Bicycles and dogs (on a
lead) can travel free of charge.
2004 saw the opening of the new Heritage Centre at Brownhills West. Powered by solar
energy panels, the Heritage Centre (part-funded by the European Regional Development Fund) incorporates a small museum area and will accommodate the
Railway's historic, unique, wooden-bodied carriages.
