News : Coal Train Day – Reveiw

Coal Train Header

Thanks to all our visitors and volunteers for a fantastic day at our 2014 Coal Train day. We hope you enjoyed it as much as we did, The locomotives and crews performed well putting on a show and giving a glimpse of what it used to be like here on the colliery line in times gone by. We did have a small line side fire and a simultaneous fire in one of the coal wagons likely caused by a combination of stray spark from a steam engine and tinder dry conditions. As part of the railway’s safety plan we do practice and have equipment for such events and the fires were very promptly extinguished by our volunteers.

The coal train day continued uninterrupted and the many visitors enjoyed the weather and the show put on here at Chasewater Railway. We would love you to share your photographs of the day with us. If you would like to send us any then please forward them to Thanks to everyone for supporting the event and we look forward to seeing you all at our Burton Brewery locomotive day in July (20th).
