Above is a view of the old station site during the final stages of construction of the Birmingham Northern Relief Road (BNRR). The under construction Heritage Centre can clearly be seen to the right while a relic of the Midland Railway, a road bridge, is approximately 50 yards out of shot to the left and behind the camera. This picture was taken from the pedestrian bridge over the motorway on 11/9/2003.
Over the last few years the area around Chasewater has seen many changes. One of them involved the moving of millions of tons of earth, an event not seen at Chasewater since the mining days. The construction of the country's first ever toll motorway brought many problems and equally many benefits.
For many years the volunteers at the Chasewater Railway were prevented from improving upon our station facilities due to the impending demolition of the old Brownhills West site, which now lies directly below the central reservation. However, the compensation package given to the railway paid for the shell of the new Brownhills West.
