Our Stations
We operate nearly 4 miles of track circumnavigating Chasewater, a canal feeder reservoir opened in 1797 as Norton Pool. Part of our route lies on the trackbed of the former Midland Railway’s branch from Aldridge through Brownhills to service the collieries that once operated in the area.
Brownhills West Station
Brownhills West Station, built in traditional Victorian style, offers visitors and volunteers comfort and convenience. The station buffet offers a variety of hot & cold snacks and drinks. The Brownhills West headquarters has a 10 road layout. There are two bay platforms (1 & 2) and a through platform (3) which can accommodate 4 coaches. During the design phase, care was taken to incorporate modern facilities into the building while maintaining an authentic feel. The double glazed windows are of period design and security shutters are hidden away behind decorative facias when not in use. The Victorian atmosphere is given a further touch of authenticity by the real coal fire.
Additional facilities include male, female & disabled toilets, Hot & cold buffet with indoor seating and level access to trains and all station areas to aid disabled visitors. Our car park allows parking for over 40 cars and an overflow car park which offers an additional 150 spaces.
All dogs are welcome on a lead. If required, guided tours are given (For large groups please contact us prior to visit)
Norton Lakeside Halt
Opened in 1995 Norton Lakeside was formerly the line’s terminus but has been recently reclassified as a request stop due to the extension of the line to Chasewater Heaths and Chasetown (Church Street). It is an ideal location to break your journey with tranquil views of the lake and heathland. It is also adjacent to Chasewater’s long distance footpaths and cycleway which lead onto the Beacon Way.
The location is a designated Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and there is also a nearby Wildfowl Reserve. The summer months provide an ideal time to explore these surroundings.
It is a good starting point for bike rides around the SSSI and should you wish to transport your bicycle we are happy to carry them in the spacious guards compartment at no extra cost!
Chasewater Heaths Station
Chasewater Heaths station is located on the A5190 Lichfield – Cannock Road, immediately adjacent to the new Burntwood Bypass. The station has a gift and book shop, male, female and disabled toilets and an externally franchised cafe, which is open 7 days a week; hot and cold food is served.
The track between Chasewater Heaths and Norton Lakeside has recently been relaid, which has eased the entry curve and allowed the installation of points for the loop and bay/goods yard, which should be completed in the near future.
With all of the station lamp posts now painted, the next task to finalise the wiring and the fitting of the lamps can now proceed. In addition, a fund has been set up to allow the construction of a station canopy along the through platform side of the building. This is funded principally from gift shop sales.

Chasetown (Church Street) Station
Chasetown is the line’s current terminus and consists of an unmanned single track platform and a run round loop.
Passengers may board and leave the train here, although there are no Railway parking facilities at this station.
Chasetown Centre is a short 10 minute walk down Church Street and the Chasewater Nature Trail is located nearby. The Burntwood Rugby Club is located directly next to the station.
