As winter draws in and the festive season approaches, Chasewater Railway opens its carriages for a truly special service that goes far beyond a simple heritage train ride. On 25th November 2025, the historic volunteer-run railway announced its Hospital Santa Charity Trains 2025 — a joyful initiative bringing the magic of Christmas straight to children and families from local hospitals, entirely free of charge.
This heart-warming event is delivered in partnership with The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust Charity, Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s Well Wishers Charity, University Hospitals Birmingham, and Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust to bring families a festive celebration for all the family.
This event reflects both the community spirit at the heart of Chasewater Railway and the generosity of NHS charities. Volunteers from the railway and partner organisations work together to ensure the day is relaxing, fun and truly magical for families. It’s an opportunity for children who’ve spent time in hospital to enjoy a festive experience they might otherwise miss, surrounded by loved ones.
“It’s great having that family time, especially as it’s something we can all do together." - Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust’s Well Wishers Charity
"Enjoy some magic, and spend quality time with your families. We’re so grateful to Chasewater Railway this wonderful escape.” - Sandwell and West Birmingham NHS Trust
As well as support from Beacon Community Church Burntwood and St Mathews Walsall.
